This is my take on the a minimalist/nano pod motor mount for a 6384 motor for the inside 4mm bolt pattern of 30mmx30mm. I only have an insert for an Axis 19mm aluminum mast and a generic AliExpress hydrofoil mast. I included a blank insert that could be used to make your own insert for whatever mast you have.

The TPU insert and strap is best printed from 85A and the mount itself should be printed from ASA.

Hope this is useful for someone.

I made an update to my design and now is even more secure, I recommend printing the cone in 95A TPU. It was inspired by the [zip pod](https://thee3shop.com/)

Hi! Nice one! I’m using your pod for 2 sessions now. i printed the cone in petg and the slider in tpu. I didn’t use any inserts, I just made the holes smaller in the middle and the end.
My previous zip pod had the motor closer to the mast, but I cannot see any performance loss with the motor being further away. Maybe I see a slight improvement in terms of ventilation.
I also designed one previously with a different kind of slide insert, but I never tested it.

Awesome, glad it works for you! Yeah I was trying to keep the motor closer to the mast but having it removable/modular without having to unbolt the motor is the trade off.

I’m a bit of a fan of having the motor as close as possible to the back of the mast, feel like it gives a cleaner power on power off transition with less foot shuffling required - this could well be my imagination though ….

Was interested to see how hard the manufacturers tried when creating the custom mini pod Foil Drive masts, even setting the motor into the mast.

Realise this is totally different and apologies for butting into the topic but here is an internal cable mini pod design I did for the Flipsky motor and the ‘feel’ of the setup is probably the best I’ve achieved over about a squillion different pods I’ve designed and printed!

Obviously internal cable is cheating because it’s easier to get the motor close to the back of the mast, particularly with the Flipsky motor because the cables come straight out the back.

I’ll post some files soon if anyone is interested.

I did cut the slider a bit shorter. If you reverse the angled cut, it might be possible to move it even more close

I can’t believe more guys don’t just do this instead of buying overly expensive foil drive integrated masts!

That is a very nice design, I was just adverse to drilling holes in the mast until I knew I could actually put something together that would work lol. From my previous designs, where the motor was positioned even farther from the mast, the cantilever effect was clearly noticeable.

Here are the files for the bolt on internal cable Flipsky mount. Two 4mm cross bolts - suggestion is to hold the pod onto the mast then mark the holes from both sides. Drill the holes slightly closer to the front edge of the mast then file them back until you can just get the bolts through. 4mm chainsaw file works perfectly, its such a bummer to drill the holes and then find the pod is loose on the mast. I think they were M4 x 50 socket head screws from memory. Also obviously be super careful to debur the hole for the cables super well, the silicone cables sheath is very soft and will easily cut through without you noticing any defect - that’s very soon the end of the motor with corrosion running up the cable. I put an expanding braided sheath over the cables.

I print with PCTG but PETG works fine. I do a print with 6 layers and 15% infill with gyroid pattern. Then I drill two 5mm holes in the flat bottom and fill the pod with epoxy with a syringe without the needle. The bolts attaching the motor are M4 Socket head shoulder screw and they are done up by inseting an allen key from the end of the pod where the cover fits on. Once its all tight and attached press the covers onto both sides, tiny dob of silicone holds them in place and is easily removeable if necessary.

I reversed the dovetail and moved motor closer to the mast. Maybe I could’ve moved it even closer. This is for the bduav Ali 6384 motor

Doh! That’s a brilliant idea, nice work!

I’ll have to modify mine, that totally helps with the stress riser and brings the motor closer to the mast.

Here is my version for building an integrated efoil mast from a Slingshot OneLock aluminum mast.
The pod has a side lid that allows to feed the wires before closing it up. Requires two M3 drill holes through the mast to hold it in place.

Let me guess. You didn’t have any other plastic, so you printed this using PEEK?

I printed in tpu and petg, I didn’t like the flex of the tpu so I’m using the Petg version.
I haven’t even tried abs or asa
