Battery storage

Thoughts on an appropriately sized ammunition can? Looks like a tall 81mm can should fit.

This video tests them by overcharging (smaller) LiPo batteries - best test is rubber seal removed so it can vent out:

Hi.

Both of my efoil batteries fit in this ammo can. At home I put the battery in a BBQ grill to charge it unattended. When traveling, I charge the battery in the ammo can with the lid off and keep an eye on them.

These large efoil batteries demand respect. They will easily burn down your house, or car, or boat. Scary.

Be safe guys.

For god sake the shipping cost!

I found one locally. Hit the guy up and see if you can get him to adjust the shipping cost. It is a big item, so I bet shipping isn’t cheap! The eBay listing is a good reference of the correct one anyways!

Nice one. You charge in a plastic/composite environment. Is it possible to control/orientate the direction of the puff flame in case of trouble ?

Hi.

I have a strap attached to the case and a wash down hose. I think I could hose it down and throw it overboard. Maybe. The idea is to catch it early and deal with it before it goes super nova! Might be smarter to charge on the swim step, then I could just kick it overboard!

Cheaper alternative:

Interesting to see these eFoil specific bags (they sell both Lift and Waydoo sized versions) - well priced at $220 USD relative to what else is on the market. Would be interested to see review/testing: https://solutionsdept.com/shop/waydooboardlithiumbatterycase-p-8.html

I have yet to see a fire bag that actually works. Seems like expensive fire safety theater to me.

Wonder how well a DIY concrete box would work? Cheap material, not that difficult to do a mold. If using a net to reinforce, will not crack that easily. Heavy to move, but on the other hand, also heating up during a fire will take a while. Concrete + rock wool, that would be rater safe ?

You can get proper fireproof cement and just use that…

That’s correct, the stuff to use in the heart of a fireplace( can take heat, out of memory, more than 1000c), and its not even that expensive. Still there is the problem with the fumes in case of fire, but at least the whole hose or garage will not burn down if battery is stored in a concrete box.

These are great suggestions. I’m considering an ammo can with seal removed (video above made ammo can with seal removed a clear winner). What do you think about including this in the ammo can?
