**This is a draft of how I would make a battery; I would use dual nickel strips. If you have any suggestions, please tell me, and of course [advise on] the thickness of the nickel strips. Thanks**

Looks good. Current is nicely spread in this scenario. Maybe you can use something like this?
Make sure to order REAL nickel. Not nickel plated steel. Size wise, 0.15/0.2 I’d say. But your pack looks nice and simple and there are no “bottlenecks” so current is evenly spread over all series connections, you can also add some copper. See my pictures for some feedback / suggestions.

Also note I think it is better to first solder the final +/- wires or bus bars before you spot weld the nickel to those p groups. It can take a lot of heat and solder getting those connected and isn’t really good for the cells. If you’re like me an make a mess of things with the solder I think it’s a better approach.

Definitely. I’d do it like this…solder wire to copper strip, solder copper strip to nickel strip…spotweld nickelstrip.

Do I need a fuse on the + output of the battery? I would get a 300 amp fuse.

I’d choose something like 200A and make sure it’s appropriate for the voltage.

MidiOto ist the smallest form factor fuse I could find for our voltage. Max available rating is 200A, which works for me.

I am currently building a battery pack for my inflatable wing foil board, and I will upload some photos later today.The battery will be housed inside a high-quality **Panaro Max430S case (IP67 rated)**. Since the Panaro case itself is already waterproof, I have a few questions regarding the internal setup. **Do I still need to build a separate waterproof enclosure for the battery inside the case?** Or is the IP67 Panaro case enough on its own, **If you do recommend a secondary waterproof enclosure, will the battery overheat inside it?** I’m worried about heat dissipation with double containment. I plan to include a **water leak sensor** inside the case that is loud enough to be heard from the outside if any water gets in.

yes al inside the box need to be waterproof. almost impossible to make it 100% waterproof once al cables/switches/.. are installed. also straps to fix it wil deform the case a litle. battery heat wil not be the problem, esc heat wil . beter watercooled or big alu coolplate for esc

I’m wondering where you keep your efoil batteries. I live in an apartment and don’t have a garage, so I’d like to know if anyone has had any issues with these batteries self-igniting. What is the best prevention? Keeping the battery at 40%, using a fireproof box? Any advice is welcome

Especially NCA cells, but also LiNiMnCoO2 will not care if you store them at low SOC or in a metal box, they will burn heavily. They produce their own oxygen while burning so there is no real way to extinguish them.
Make sure to keep them in good shape (never under or overcharge, no damage, water, …)
Never charge unattended
But IMO there will always be a risk left for a fire - only thing you can do is storage in the least problematic location you have
