A modification could be on its way… the shape looks quite closed with short lines though
Question : How would the small sizes work on shortest lines possible with a paraskiflex/parawing bar setup? For low power applications like skateboarding or downwind foil.
Funalex (Designer) answer: Hello, it works (here with centered bridle on the 4m), but not that much responsive, and not as powerfull as other parawings
Adding Z could be a good option to achieve a good parawing I think, I didn’t get the time for that.
In the meantime, Pansh has kites (trainer, 4-line) that look parawing bar compatible with possible bridle length modifications. The Genesis has been tested by @Gazman79 on a kitefoil and costs 280us$ for a 6sqm… It is a non towable double skin closed-cell kite like the announced Gong PULSE…
I think the ever increasing prices have started to depress the market. Axis Fireballs look great but are over £1000 in the UK for just a front wing.
I’m still waiting for a sensibly priced parawing to come along. I thought it be would be gong but there are very few reviews coming out from the ambassadors who got them in December. Maybe it will be takoon?!?!
Regarding the benefits of the Flow with it’s bigger leading edge, I tend to say that Takoon went in the same direction, and from my point of view, it’s the best feature parawing can have for the moment because we use them within the top of their wind range.
I had a Brm 4m which I sold already because the behaviour is absolutely uncomfortable in the hardest gusts (>25 knots), almost dangerous… Frontstall
Even if it will be bigger to pack it, it will be better than BRM for guys who want to replace the wing. It’s a tradeoff
The pricing of foil gear is way overpriced!
Its all about the hype and way less about the performance of gear. All the companies are simply taking an apple iphone approach to gear and designing for a yearly update constantly. Its actually a bit of a shame.
It’s a hard one. There needs to be some money in it to make it worth while. The foiling as a sport is pretty small in the scheme of things. Say for the BRM, say he sells 1000, for $1000 each. Thats only 1 million in turn over, then there are manufacturing costs, marketing, development, tax, and you are probably down to a few hundred thousand profit/ salary for the hit foiling product of 2024. Not much for all that work and innovation.
Lots of innovation in this one. It looks good but for downwinding, there needs to be some footage of a proper pack down which will presumably be tougher with a double skin kite.
The innovation comes at a cost. Cheapest is 1250 Euros…
Now thats the right pricepoint. They’ll still make some profit too!
If a single skin 3m kite can be sold as low as £150 and still turn a profit, then you know the big players (BRM/Ensis etc) are way overpriced.
Even when downwinding, the ability to go upwind well extends you time on the water and helps.
A stranger application for this is for those that have shoulder issues. I can’t wing because my leading shoulder has limited range of movement takes too much load. With a parawing I can use it differently removing the load off that arm and shoulder.
