That looks unreparable to me as the pcb is burned. Maybe ask Frank for a special deal for a new one without enclosure, that’s probably the only part that can be reused.
Hi.
I’m so sorry to hear of your VESC’s untimely death.
Please everyone! Learn from these unnecessary failures. The electronics need to be submerged in corrosionX. The motor needs to be filled with corrosionX. A Water leak will not cause any damage if these items are swimming in corrosionX.
Without corrosionX the motor will only last 20 hours in salt water, and any water in the electronic box spells instant failure.
The marine environment is brutal on electrical components.
Good luck. I hope they can repair it.
Funny actually. I have set the Mosfet cutoff to 70 and 95 degrees. Should have switched off before, right?
I don’t think it failed because of high temp. It failed because it got wet. Right?
sorry to see that and thank you for the inside pics
let us now what happened, water? shorted battey?..
Nobody knows it. I ordered a new one and hope it will be here before german efoil-meeting 26.6.
Did you take apart your Flipsky 65161 and fill with corrosionx? I would hate to break the seal, but listening to you about salt water and corrosion. It’s the worst down here in Naples. Also what about batteries?
Hi.
Yes. This process is detailed on the 65161 motor thread and my build thread.
The batteries and wires I coated with 3 heavy coats of spray conformal coating. And my battery box has color changing water detection tape for early detection of any water. And a bag of desiccant beads to absorb any moisture.
Today my new Vesc will arrive. I have red the new firmware doesn’t work with the maytech remote and other fw have some bugs.
Which is the best combination between firmware and vesctool? And please, can anyone send me a link to get the correct versions… I really have problems to get the vesctool from trampa.I don’t know how, but it doesn’t worked the last times…
here you find a collection of different versions: Precompiled VESC Tool Archive - The Citadel - Essential References for Esk8 - esk8.news: DIY Electric Skateboard Forums
I don’t know which one is the best one for your setup I guess it depends on your motor. I only connected my vesc as a test to a 56104 500kv inrunner. Had some trouble with motor detection with the latest version at the time (2.03). You can install a newer version, say 2.0, connect your vesc and then check what version is on vour vesc. Then install a vesc tool version on your pc that is compatible with your firmware. Unfortunately, the compatibility matrix in the link is a bit outdated. Or you could upgrade your vesc firmware (if you are in limited mode) to match your vesc tool version.
Okay, thank you very much. That’s helpful.
Now it works perfect.
