Yes, but hot melt doesn’t stay attached to the silicone, if you bend the cable it peels. At least the tests i’ve done showed liquid tape to be better. The hot melt adhesive in the heat shrink is relatively stiff compared to the liquid tape.
Thanks for the info
Is there a specific marine grade silicone you would suggest or recommend?
I’ve always used geocel marine silicone, but I’d imagine any of the others should work well. You can always test on a small piece of wire too.
Found this: Heat Shrinkable Tube Waterproof Solder.
Interesting isn’t it, did somebody try it?
Sure, they are a standard waterproof solution. Easy to use!
Don’t work on silicon wires though
Corrosion X on the soldered joint, then encase in polyolefin shrink tube. Simple and watertight.

Yah, won’t be waterproof really as the oil stops the heat shrink from being glued to the cable insulation. it will be good enough though, especially if there’s no movement in the wires
easiest way is to use marine silicone and then just heatshrink over it. The heatshrink will ultimately shape the silicone like the wire and the silicone bonds to the silicone wire.
Cool, but will it dry in an acceptable amount of time?
Mine all dried in 24 hrs. If you use fast cure silicone it should dry faster.
