After my so‑so success with my DIY surf/foil board in 2025, I’m now trying to develop a more conventional system.
The goal is not to fly, since it’s still prohibited here, but rather to ride at low speed (~15 km/h) with minimal drag. It’s still technically prohibited, but much more discreet.
I designed the mast and the wing so they can be 3D‑printed. The fuselage will be integrated into both the mast and the wing. The wing is around 1300 cm², but my 3D model is scalable, so I can still change my mind and increase the surface if needed. The mast is only 55 cm long because I already have some 55 cm carbon tubes in stock.
The mast is made of 5 (or 6, depending on the final length) parts. The three central parts will be glued together using a Ø16 mm and a Ø5 mm aluminum tube. The 16 mm tube provides rigidity, while the 5 mm tube is only there for alignment. Once the three pieces are glued, I will laminate them. The base and the fuselage will be laminated separately.
The mast will have 3 carbones tubes Ø10 and a Ø16 and Ø5 aluminium tubes insides. Only the aluminum tubes will be glued. The carbone tubes will screwed from but side in order to dissamble the wing for transportation

For what its worth mate ,I would advise using thin wall Stainless steel or Titanium tubing. Aluminium corodes like crazy when near Carbon fibre & water. Early Blue Plant Furelarges used to corrode , expand and split the carbon fibre coating. I think elecrtrolices is a major culprit.

I will not go in salt water so I assume aluminium will be fine

I finished to print the wing, the surface is 1600cm2
I printed it with my Bambu Lab P1s using ABS. ABS makes printing too difficult. It smells bad and warps. One part even broke.
I spent too much time sanding and applying filler before adding the two M6 inserts
