Yes, Lift was overdue for some updates.
Will be interesting to see details of this LiftX board with a smaller battery. I would imagine it would need to have a high assist type motor position to useful, but maybe it will just be more of a Fliteboard Ultra competitor as a light weight small efoil for waves

Its a low motor efoil position I heard from an insider. They could make it high no problem but I think the next trick is to be able to have both options swapped in some way in that premium product.

I had a look at it yesterday, and I love how they kind of “copied” Waydoo’s battery mounting system.
However, the mast-to-board fixing system was new to me and looks really nice.
When ordering the mast, you have to specify where you want the motor position. It cannot be changed afterward.
Waydoo (opposite the Lift stand) showcased the new foil drive (still a prototype), which also looked great.

Does it really matter who was the first with the battery mounting system? It’s an obvious upgrade/improvement when breaking away from early platforms.
Waydoo does use a key to lock the battery though. I’d say it looks more like Awake’s option.
Shame Andreas didn’t write a fair review and had to give a few low blows of “it not being anything new” basically. Not comparing, but was Apple always the first?
In the end it’s all about the experience, and the Lift 5 and Lift X will definately be an upgrade from previous models. While the experience was already great, quiet ride, strong motor, fantastic set of wings and more.
Can’t wait to ride both the Lift 5 and Lift X !!

It definitely does not matter who is 1st, and you know us. We love to improve / copy things too.
As mentioned above. The new mast lock system (not seen on any other board) looks great, and for sure it will be copied some way by other brands.
A wise man once said. Why reinvent the wheel over and over again.

Well it doesn’t have anything new. Its just an honest approach. The lift fan boys are shouting that everything is new, but in reality it isn’t.

That Sifly system is even better you can disconnect both the mast from the board and the fuselage motor in seconds this is really nice I wish I could do that! When I bring both my efoil and kitefoil to the beach I have to take the kitefoil apart with all the screws that’s a pain this would be so nice I could pack a lot more gear in the car.

It has nothing to do with fanboys as hardly anyone with decent inside info has even mentioned the upgrades.
I’ve seen the SiFly approach, also looks very good. But modularity is the same, as Lift will also have a quick connect wing set. Just placement of the motor is different.
This was not shown at Boot.

These screwless lock systems bring mechanical parts that could fail, weight, costs and water resistance. The Sifly system need two sealings to seal the electrical connectors.
I get the idea but is it really a big deal to tighten 4 screws for the mast? Get a ratched, take care of sand and it is done within 2 minutes. I leave the foils attached to the mast and put the complete mast/drive system in my car. It fits even in smaller cars.

I think quick release is the way forward. Realistically there are sometimes up to 13 bolts that need to be done up just on the foil (axis).
What would be great is if manufacturers could get their #£%@ together and design around one or 2 systems so that you have better compatibility. With surfboard fin systems you pretty much have 2 options and all fins are made for those.
