Sabfoil leviathan (pump foil) to gong fuse build

I have run a number of adaptors in raw alu. But I do take apart after each session and wash properly.
Another alternative is self etching spray and the gun guys all swear by Cerakote.

I sprayed some paint on it, just to be sure.

Just got this beauty delivered :smiley::smiley:
Fit is tighter than the original, and I got it in anodised 7075 since it wasn’t a lot extra.
I’m really happy with how it turned out.

That’s nice, who did it for you?

I got it from PCBway. Easy order and great finish, can recommend them.

What is the difference between an axis mast and a gong mast? Why is it worth to make adapters?

The gong is about 17mm wide, axis 19mm and material is thicker on the axis mast. There will be a huge difference in stiffness since the bending resistance is proportional to bxh^3

19^3/17^3=1.4 so 40% stiffer, even without the increase in thickness

And axis base plate fit was better than any gong i’ve had.

Looks fantastic!!!..was it pricey??

Yes, and no. I paid for fast shipping which drove up the cost but the part itself was about the same as an original Axis doodad. They have quite some markup on their stuff…

How are you finding the leviathan 1750 @Larsb ?

I had a hip surgery so unfortunately i don’t find anything
Slowly building a tow and doing physio currently… I hope i get the ablity to ride back but progress is so far slow.

Sorry to hear that. Heal up fast so that you can get back to the foiling joy!

I’ve had it coming for more than ten years, had a climbing accident which screwed up my back, foot and leg, eventually the hip got the better of it.

Mental note, when we eventually learn how to go back in time i’ll go back and stop that climb😆
