The Max Maker Build

The nice thing about vesc is that you can set and mode max limits
That what I did , test my settings , went back to land , set motor higher, test , when back set battery higher…
Torque=amp
Power=speed

« Very simple » calculation : 90A motor max out at 10% duty gives you 9A at the battery, same by at 100% gives 90A

Looking for 60A at battery , increase motor max amp until you get what you want , measure the thrust , start flying and then try other prop what will give you the same needs for less amp

As duty (so rpm ,speed…) increases ,motor max Amp will decrease toward the max amp battery setting
So with this prop we may need to set it to 120/60 to get it work nicely

Regarding finding the best prop, I’m don’t agree. A prop can push easily 25kg with 1200/1400W and be useless for efoiling. Some props are designed toward thrust, other toward speed.
The best way is actually to design a custom prop’ that is design with a defined speed and defined RPM and thrust.

That is why I said « for the same needs with less amp «
The way I see it and it s to bad I never did it …:
Measured static thrust and amp
Measured top speed and amp
Knowing which thrust is enough at what speed then work on the prop in order decrease amp as much as possible without degrading performance : diameter pitch shape area … but I think it better to start from a working setup

Do you have a 3D printer ?

Who me ?
Yep got @gobbla printer : an exchange with one FR prop :crazy_face:
But i get all my parts printing in sls at sculpteo

I can increase the amps of course, but obviously less amps is better and safer. I do appreciate everyones input a lot! My thinking is that I find the best prop in a static test now among the cheap ones. Then I can build the duct and motor mount. Otherwise I build the duct for the wrong prop.

Do you happen to have a list of all the components you used? I looked for a bit, but I wasn’t able to find anything, so sorry if I missed it.

I am back! Felix from FeRo send me a Felix Remote which sparked the motivation for me to finish the hydrofoil. It has a display and GPS built in.

Today I mounted the motor. Now I need to print a cage around the prop. Have you got suggestions for the pest duct profile as well as strut profile and number of struts?

Ditch the duct, it just adds drag, regardless of the profile. Mast and wing are more dangerous than the the prop.

I agree. Forget about the duct and start flying

Its all done! Thank you for the support from everyone over the years. Lately especially from Felix Remote. They have a awesome product.

Below is a very short YouTube video. Full video is coming up in a few weeks.

That took quite some time. Good luck for your first rides. Do you want to join the diy meeting from German crowd?

It was a long time! In the meantime I got my own apartment supervised a large construction project, build up my business, got married and got a truck driving license : D

Don’t think Ill have time for the meetup at the moment.

Hello Max and everyone else.
I am new hier but i also want to build an E-Foil.
I already have the Foil and the motor wich is exatly the same as yours.
And i think your 3d Printet mount would fit perfect. I have the problem that i am Unauthorized to see them. How do i get de permission what do i need to do?

Thanks for an Answer.
