I have scratch built my own rib and outboard motors, so i was looking for a new challenge when i came across wake foiling, perfect.
Looks fantasic. Nice Job.
What kind of underwater connection between surfer and boat did you use? Carbonrod?
Thanks, 12mm carbon tube, roll wrapped.
A bit too active in this video, read my description on u tube. Today is testing day for a complete rethink of the engineering.
One carbon tube inside another creates the bearing, an aluminum collar limits the angle of turn. The mast is getting a streamlined part to slide down over the round carbon tube to stop the spray off the back. A push on tail fin to improve tracking, i can have a bigger one to hand if this one is too small. A lot of foils have rolled down outer edges, anheadral, what does it do? Guessing it gives more lift.
Wondering how i could make a 1/6th scale wing, still being towed behind the boat it could be filmed without seeing the engine. It would need to be light too.
A club mate very kindly made me a frame, so I added a handle and taped on some nylon.
I think it needs to be much bigger
This small wing suits Stan better as he is at a smaller scale, shame to waste it. Stan was my first try at wake foiling behind my scratch built RC rib. I’ve given him a safety line in case he lets go of the wing.
Wing foiling
Stan did well at wing foiling, never let go of the wing and never fell off. Better to show you still photos to keep the illusion going.
Today it’s Katerina to try with her much larger wing, light winds forecast probably just as well for her first try.
So what will be next? Para-foiling?
That would be great, i have attempted paragliding with a little success.
I need to make a lighter version of this wing to get it fly well.
This version weighs 45g , the last one was 140g so a huge saving. She can hold it in different positions, so i am expecting great things front this one. Should get a good film for YouTube.
