I’m about to start building 2 6S3P battery packs and am wondering if its worth it to bother cell matching if purchasing all of the cells new from a reputable manufacturer? Having to to charge the cells individually, complete an internal resistance measurement, then discharging each cell for safety/storage is a lot of time as I can only charge/discharge 1 cell at a time with my current setup.
I’ve only ever heard of doing the cell matching and testing with salvaged cells, not new cells. Maaaybe if you get “new” cells from different sources or are mixing different brands of cells then some testing could be helpful. If you buy new from a single source they are likely produced at a similar time in the same production line and will have close specs.
I think if you just check the that the new cells have close voltage it will be fine (I think within 0.1V?)
