72 124 waterproof motor 12 slot 10 poles. Available for testing!

If you’ve spent 2000$ for your first prototype and make a 60usd margin per motor, you “just” need to sell 25 motors to amortize the first prototype which is “doable”. You’re already half way

@Manufoil, http://en.hobiba.cn is a nice camouflage. They are manufacturing efoil motors for Flipsky, Maytech, HGLT, … but their site seems to have not been updated since 2017

Well that’s in theory

  1. there is no 60USD margin since the quantity is below 50 (minimum run)
  2. out of 8 ordered 6 are sold, 1 goes to @ELEVATE.rocks in exchange for an old RL wing set, and one for me.
So as you all will agree its just a very expensive hobby.

An outrunner produced in small series costs around € 50, an inrunner around € 60
Greetings Frank

I’d like to get that company contact?
what size of batch is then required?

I have previously designed some motors but realised i din’t have enough time or money to prototype. If batch is not too large at 60€ then i’d just do it :grinning:

It seems I’m being ripped off then. @JetboardCologne can you arrange 10 units of my motor for 600 USD?

A well constructed outrunner consists of 2 turned parts. 15 to 20, -
Stator sheet 3 to 5, - €
Changing 10, -
Magnets 5, -
5, ball bearings
These were my production costs a few years ago, until I owned the company to a competitor.
With the exception of good stator lamination, you can find good suppliers in every city.

And no, I only manufacture engines if I feel like doing it
Greetings Frank

I see no profit margin(have you been manufacturing and selling motors for 50 - 60EUR?) in this calculation, no taxes, and most importantly no MOQ.
As a manufacturer would you ever agree to such pricing for a order of 10 units? In my experience if a manufacturer hears about an order for less then a 100 parts they kindly send you to hell…

I agree that BOM price of a motor can be 50 - 60 EUR but that has little to do with the price one has to pay a manufacturer for a very small batch of custom motors.

Yes, I do agree and I hope you and @JetboardCologne are going to converge to a list of best practice and top suppliers
You have a nice motor there and I sincerely wish your next order could gather 50 paying customers so that you get the reward you deserve.

One question: how much is finally your X value in the coming batch ? Is it still 38mm (85 - 25 - 22mm) or did you finally adopt the consensus standard : Flipsky 65161 threaded 12mm shaft, X = 14mm ?

200104 65161 dim compar

These are prices so that you can make the engine yourself
Of course there is no margin or tax in it.
You need your own initiative. It’s just a different level than going to a producer and saying, do it for me.
I’ve been building and designing engines for over 20 years, check out my Flatable Outrunner. The motor is reduced to the essentials and is therefore cheap to manufacture.
Greetings Frank

Still this is prices for someone with connections already and i’d say it requires a batch of plus 10 motors

If i buy just the axle, shell, stator carrier in singles - without machining - it’s already above 60€, then i guess laminations will be the most expensive on top of that and all the other parts.

Update! Motors are finally on the way from China!

now it’s the end of week :grinning:

Lol, I think he said end of next week. We are on edge of toes waiting. Also my 3d printer is finally coming in next week so can finally resume my build!

Sadly It’s only next Tuesday

I was sadly mistaken

UPDATE

I have received notice that the motors have reached customs for clearance.
Who wants to be first in line for shipping please PM your shipping address and the preferred shipping company.

I guess that after people receive the new motors some “old” motors will be for sale!
If so… We are interested as we are going to build a “slow” efoil sometime this winter.

You can never have enough motors
So i guess there won’t be many available, we all need to build our third or fourth efoil
