Hi everyone, I bought a HGLTECH motor 65162, and I found out many people are saying the propeller are not good for efoil and the shaft couldn’t be commonly matched. I woundering is there are any shaft that could be commonly matched with all kinds of propellers, so would you please share the shaft that you are using in the comment below. I’m thinking to make one with my friends. Thanks.
1 - The 7 1/4 Yamaha prop is not a bad one as @virus reached 30-40kmph with a model reduced to 140mm then 130mm and mounted on a 100kv motor last July (2019).
It is just not as efficient as the Flying Rodeo prop which is difficult to get btw…
2 - accepting an annealed shaft restricts you to this prop and 3D printed ones
3 - the praised shaft and Virus 9usd Yamaha prop on this shaft (redrilled)
Which shaft have you got on your motor?
I was thinking. Will be not perfect to ask 65162 motor’s reseller to provide a 12mm shaft without any hole so we can drill le shaft ourself to fit to all propeller? For me it would be the best compromise! What do you think about?
I’ve got this one
I’ve been sent one of these motors to do a review on. I have a prop coming as well. Once I’ve tested the motor and prop I’ll modify the prop to get the best out of it and share all my mods. I think the brass adaptor should be able to be removed from the prop and fitted to better props. I’ll do this as well so that anyone who’s bought the motor can benefit.
Hi George, sorry I am late. I notice this problem few weeks ago as well, and our engineers have been very busy on the SeaRover project, but I definately will talk with them to address the issue. Indeed, we are also planning on change a new shaft as well, so if anyone has a good idea about a new shaft for this motor please reach me out. A decent affiliate programme would be offered as incentives for your design or idea.
This shaft is a great one:
And then another option would be to have a 12mm shaft with an M6 thread in the end of it. One that fits the lift props.
We are planning on making a new shaft, and that shaft is not that perfect as well.
So why do you feel that shaft is not good? Especially when it allows yo to fit any custom prop?
For me, as I already write it here, for me a shaft without hole would be the best so you can adjust to every propeller! No?
What do you mean by this? Which hole?
Hi Jezza
I mean this one because distance X and Y depend a lot of the type of propeller!
That hole adds more value and options that removing it.
But as I said. The best props on the market are the flying rodeo ones he does for lift. Therefore it makes sense to do a shaft that fits those prop. Then everyone can buy one from him or lift…
What do you think about this one?
Thats prop uses the shaft that I added a picture of. I’m not sure if they are selling them though. You might need to get in touch with them.
