I am planning on housing my ESC and RX under the board in aluminium tube. With the idea of passing the aerial through the tube and into the mast track (padded with foam)… but out of interest (to save having another water access point) -could I simply attach the aerial to the aluminium tube (internally) - making it the antenna?
That should work. In my internal foil drive prone board I have simply stuck an external antennae directly over the internal antennae with heavy duty tape. As long as my nose of the prone board is near the surface (even 1” under water works) with the maytech v2 controller. See pics. If you zoom into the first one you will see the black cable going around the box and stuck under black tape. In the second pic you can see the antennae extender stuck to the end of the board.

I was hoping I can just leave mine in the mast track - hoping there’s not too much carbon fibre around it.
