In efoil mode, how long does it take to drain in 8s3p, 12s2p, other config you’ve tried ? As an indication, how much do you weigh ?
This looks exactly like what i need to do with my setup. I have the exact same ESC and box. Couple of questions:
How did you mount the ESC on the inside to the heatsink. just adhesive paste or did you bolt somehow? Did you remove the Flycolor alu cover on the outside to expose the mosfets and just mount hard against the heatsink? Cheers
I can ride my 12S2P molicel p45b 25 minutes and I cruise at 65% on 5.5 km.
I left everything as it is on the ESC, glued the heatsink on an alu plate which replace the plastic wall of the box and stuck an outside heatsink on it. Very nice to use on 12S2P, 40amp current limit, not a lot of heat.
I have the same 160a flycolor x-cross esc, how do I limit the current, my setup seems to cut power at peak load and won’t run again until I disconnect and reconnect my 12s battery, I think it may be the bms on the battery that is cutting it but not sure, can I use the usb connection in the link to program the esc to limit the current? Or could it be the timing settings on the esc?
The esc may exceed the amp limit on your bms. This is done be to accelerate the motor and is typically not for a long duration. Perhaps milliseconds. Maybe try bypassing the bms and feed the esc direct from the battery. Typically it seems on this forum that folks just use the bms to charge and balance, but bypass for max performance.
Its been mentioned by @jezza and others to turn off current protection on this Flycolor X-cross ESC. And many of you are using light 12s2p battery packs.
If ESC current protection is turned off and not using BMS, how does one protect the battery? For a 12s2p pack using Molicel p26 I need to limit battery to about 60 amps… waterproof breaker?
Most are using p42. If I go 18650 cells then I use 12s3p or 12s4p so that they can handle 100a.
To be honest I’m not sure how hot my cells are getting. They may be cooking but I’ve never checked.
