Aluminium 3 blade prop

@Stouk many thanks for the tips! Will definetly be keen on trying this.

Do you work as a machinist for a living? Any more ideas I could implement to reduce cycle times?

Cheers,

Jordi

Not much of an update lately…

I’m away from home till christmas but planning on get this moving again in the new year! I had some more investigation on these ones vs the original FD one.

Will try to share them as soon as I get some more feedback.

Hi Jordi, you are welcome!
I would say that I’m a very educated hobbiyst now, I work as an engineer in a related field.
It seems that you are already using a minimal quantity lubrication system. What lubricant do you use? Kerosene and ethyl alcohol (ethanol) work quite fine for aluminium.
Your mill seems to be quite ridgid and fast, so despite having an ER collet chuck, you may try the trochoidal milling (high speed milling) on the deeper cuts, if your CAM software allow it. It may save you not only time, but your end mills on the deeper cuts.
You may also like to check your speeds and feeds against the tools manufacturers’ recommendations. Speeds and feeds often tend to be lower than they should, but it’s up to you to decide what you deem as safe and acceptable.
Cheers,
Dmitry
