While doing my efoil, I also created an app for Apple Watch that shows basic live VESC info. It connects via Bluetooth directly to the VESC, so no phone is required.
Being Apple app, you will need to compile it yourself in Xcode. To publish it officially on the Apple Watch store, one requires Apple dev account which costs $100 per year 
It is a proof of concept. But the app can easily be extended to support other attributes and options.
