Assisted Foil DIY

I am tempted to create a DIY assisted foil. I am all ears as for recommendations for the board, motor, and ESN. Any links for 3D for the motor mount? The build objective is to help me learn pump foiling and, maybe, wing foiling later. As I do not need much power (small battery), I envision a small box on the top of a commercial unpowered board.

There are dozens of foil assist builds here. Such as this one

Thanks. I completed dry test with 6384 and 75200 Pro and printed an adapter. S_Roger helped me a lot. We will see performance on water shortly. Now I want to 3D print PLA mast to use as a scaffold for carbon fiber. I am also curious about wings. I will try to convert available model to mold.

I am going to print PLA mast segments and glue them together. Load epoxy filler through the cuts on the sides. Let it dry and dress in carbon fiber. Any comments? It is a great time for feedback. My first time. I have another question. I see 3d printed props. It seems to me that it would be better to print a mold and form a prop from quality composites. Tx

Getting ready to test. I am going to laminate in carbon fiber. May be it will not give much. Just some practice. I also need to add some structural support to transfer momentum of the motor to the mast.

Why is your mount that long? I would put it as close to the mast as possible.

It is because of Lift’s electric cables. I will probably make my own mast later and it will resolve this issue. It just turns out what fabricating a carbon fiber part is quite a project.

Just desolder the connectors on one side and change the cables. Simple.

Well. I still want to use it in its original Lift configuration for some time. Asset Retirement Strategy. I could not easily change cables. There is a bit of waterproofing on the top. This is almost ready for a test on the lake. If it works, I will make a custom mast with several motor mounting spots. Microsoft co-pilot tells me that it can guide me through each step of the process. Such a committed buddy.

How many lift components are you using?

Thats easy to take off. Ive done all this with a Carbon mast which now just lies around

I have a complete Lift 3 in its original configuration. I also have 6384 motor, 75200, a battery and VX5 (assembled and tested together). So I can swap between my own and original lift config. The only electric component shared between these two configs is electric cable in the mast. Why you decided not to use carbon fiber mast?

I run a number of different foils and the Lift mast foot is a pain for adaptors.
I have actually debated cutting it down.

Pain…Yes, I understand…I am with you. I would like to know why you decided not to use CF mast. I am not yet fully sure if I want to get one.

Because the foot of the mast is a pain for adaptoprs. I debated cutting it to a more generic shape, but have’t yet.
