This summer I decided to try out winging as my first foray into foiling. Being the cheapskate I am, and with no used beginner foils for sale around me, I ended up buying an Axis clone foil set off AliExpress. It took me all summer with a busy schedule and marginal winds to realize that the 15/16mm aluminum mast that came with it was way too flexible.
After I picked up a genuine 19mm Axis mast and doodad, I found out that the AliExpress mast-to-fuselage interface is not, in fact, a clone. Instead of dropping another good chunk of change on a new fuselage, I did the only logical thing and designed my own adapter.
Since I don’t have a CNC mill, I decided to try out making a FDM printed mold for “forged” carbon fiber. Definitely a learning process but worth while.
