Battery-ESC connection

I am building a setup with a 6s2p battery pack either side of the mast base plate to make 12s2p.

Originally i was going to use a Y harness to join the packs to the ESC but as my ESC will not be easy to access, would it be ok to solder the Y harness single end to the ESC?
My concern is connecting the batteries… one at a time… will that cause issues with the ESC (rather than connect the 2 packs first then connect to the ESC)?

That would be fine as circuit no made until last one connected. What connectors are you using for the battery’s? I am doing a similar thing My Esc has 2 XT90 male connectors with a series connection between them and each battery has XT90 antipark female. still in build stages but it does work with no issues.

Thanks @marcoz - oh yes, of course (I should have realised that).

Yes I will be using the XT90s (anti-spark) connectors.

What is your setup like? under-board?

Na basic like the assist plus but looking at 11s 2p split between 2 packs 5s and 6s so can use standard rc chargers to charge them

When connecting the 2 packs in series you are safe, but I noticed in the other topic you opted for 2 12s1p blocks in parallel. How did you solve the anti-spark protection in that config?
I could imagine one solution - mount both batteries into the same board and then insert the same board into the ESC (similar style to Manta Air). It would require you connect them on the same side of ESC.
