Hey everyone, in your opinion, what’s the best alignment between the front wing and motor.
Mounting the wing below the motor seems to create a more complex force system, generating a downward moment due to the wing’s drag. However, aligning the two requires a more intricate mounting setup.
I have had efoil boards with both inline and above wing motor setup. I think it doesn’t make a huge difference either way, you’re constantly adapting throttle while riding, which creates the major difference in rotating forces compared to the wing drag. It’s also diminished by the small change in lever of these two options relative to the overall lever length (10cm vs 70cm)
The way Fliteboard does it minimizes drag. Lift was already making non powered foils so they chose above the fuselage when they developed the efoil because they wanted to remain compatible with their existing fuselage and wings. In the end both work well enough. For us in the DIY community the Lift way is much easier.
