hey folks,
seeking advice on an addition i want to make to my electric surfboard. apologies in advance on poor design skills.
I initially wanted this board from jetsurf, but could not justify the high cost. (ELECTRIC 2 SKI – JETSURF®). instead, i bought a regular electric surfboard and I am trying to DIY build the holding handle to make it look like a jetski and hold it while riding. this post is seeking advice to validate or critique my design and ideas.
I already bought an electric surfboard so we are good there. I plan to make the following addition to it.
- first part is the handle. it will be 36" height, made from 1" PVC pipes. See the design depicted in blue box. I will put a double torsion spring inside the two elbows in the bottom, and fiberglass 2-3 layers on top of everything. the two elbows will have a horizontal hole going through them and the spring to connect to the board.
2, 2nd part attaches permanently to the surfboard. Think of this as 2 L-brackets that are 3d printed from something like PETG. Brackets will each be attached with 2 bolts through and through the surfboard. On the side of each of the brackets will be a hole where i will put a ball bearing (stainless steel of course). The stainless steel bolt (about 8" length) will be removable and will go through the 2 bearings and brackets, and the pvc elbows to connect part 1 to the part 2 and board. I will add some layers of fiberglass on top of the bolts and the bracket to make it super strong and well attached on the surfboard. (boxes green and purple)
appreciate any advice validating my design and ideas. any thoughts welcome!
