Cheap VESC reliability share

share my experience of cheap China build VESC, not so good experience. all with some issues. from left to right

  1. Maytech 100A mini, bricked suddenly, not any response to power
  2. Maytech 100A mini, PWM fault, cant calibrate throttle. have to use COM to control.
  3. Flipsky 100A, after a good section, deal suddenly without visible reason
  4. MKS 75100, after a good section and dead suddenly. come back to life after sitting few days but show “unbalanced current” error.

    .
appreciate anyone have a good reliable VESC to suggestion

If you are continually killing esc’s, its most likely something else thats the issue.

I’ve killed many small vescs this size - and came to the conclusion they were probably just a bit small for the sort of current we pull (or my lack of ability setting them up always meant they were working harder then necessary)

Either way, I just use the simple Flycolour Xcross escs now and they do still fail occasionally but I’ve had a lot more success with them than I had with smaller vescs. If I was going to use a vesc I’d probably go for something the next size up to these ones.

And Jezza raises a good point - if all of these failed with the same motor and rx/remote then maybe one of those is a bit dodgy.

MKS84100hp, quite good experience on my end for personal projects and work projects.
Don’t get the 60100hp, that one too has some design issue.
MKS84200 seems OK also, but I have less tests on it.

i had got one of this, lets see how it will work out.

thanks, i did consider move away from VESC but the customizable setting is VESC is so attracting. i will give the VESC a last try. by the way, i also kill 2 flycolor cheap 60A and 90A at my early trial.

Yeap vesc is cool. Those non vesc escs were likely undersized too. We all use the 160A Xcross - it also has a few tuning options (just the basic things like throttle ramp up, temperature cutout etc.).

Good luck!
