So China now has a 48 volt foil drive Assist Max replica, I posted on some of the Facebook groups… and got a lot of flack from it was wondering if this thing is total junk or if anybody’s tried it? As I’m currently looking at getting a e-foil assist
I’ve gotten in direct contact with one of the sellers via WhatsApp and had a 40 minute video call with him and he walked me through the product, my concern is water getting into some of these holes… And corrosion.
Even FD many times treats their users as a diyers. But seems like they provide great support.
These tools has a lot on nuances…
I would either do it myself or better use a product with support. But rather will not start fixing some product.
I was checking these out too and my friend is interested as well. I reached out through WhatsApp and they sent some additional video and pictures. Also would love to see if anyone has bought this! Please post the video of someone riding it!
Hey just curious if anyone has actually ordered or received any products from Seven Larky.
I can not find any reviews or any posts with users actually using their products even though they’ve been selling a version of a foil assist since last year.
There are lots of successful foil assist builds here that are based on acquiring components that are known to work well and assembling them in a manner that is reliable and less expensive than buying brand name.
There are also some examples of people trying to buy “kits” that claim they are just as good or even better than brand name but cost less.
Do some searching and reach your own conclusion as to the wisdom of using the “kit” shortcut.
Of for sure. I’ve actually done some research and am impressed with what I’ve seen folks put together. But seven larky (while I’m sure they have advertised components separately or use diy-er conponants) is actually making several complete foil drive alternatives, like the integrated battery/ mast mentioned in this thread. They have a newer product that utilizes a 45lb thrust motor that has the foil drive form factor. On their website they only sell complete kits, push their products hard on social media, and seem pretty professional however… there is no content or reviews anywhere from real users and they are reluctant to lend gear to creators to get some of this made. So I was just curious if anyone had taken a leap and actually ordered from them yet.
We also produced the Foil Assist 2, which has been tested by professional players and has received consistent praise. Friends on the forum have discounts, if you are interested, you can check it out. www.yefoil.com
To be fair I don’t think you got burned. Everyone knows the risk of buying direct from China. Also if you really think about Foil Drive and other companies, their profit margins are mental and as a result they can direct money back into support. If you look at their Facebook groups, the amount of failures on their products is seriously high. A lot higher than I’d want on a product I produced, but somehow their clients seem ok with it as long as their support helps them DIY fix a lot of the issues
I’ll admit, they’ve taught me a lot of how far you can extend your support and pull the wool over the eyes of a customer with inferior quality.
Onto this unit now, there are many ways you can solve it pretty cheaply and actually get it running more reliably than a Foil Drive if you want to put in the time. It depends a bit on your skill and how far you want to go, but overall it will still cost less than a Foil Drive too.
Well said. That’s one of the reason I’m happy to have built my own board I built it I can fix it, and all the components are available at a fraction of the cost of the big brands.
You are clearly related to foli drive assist company.
The margins of FDA are huge. Everything is 10x the real cost.
The complaints are very confusing, mostly related to controller. And receiver. FDA uses same controller and doesn’t even have a remote receiver, so always issues with connectivity.
That’s all you can come up with??? Complaints about the plug on charger. — clearly misrepresentation.
