Hi everyone,
I’m encountering a repeatable motor stutter issue after ~20–30 minutes of ride time on small motors or around after 10 min on big motors, and I’m beginning to suspect it’s related to battery performance under sustained load.
The behavior is identical across multiple configurations:
- ESCs: Flipsky VESC 75/350 amp, Flycolor X-Cross
- Remotes/Receivers: Flipsky VX3, Bremote
- Motors: 6384 120KV or 65160 (identical symptoms on both)
- **Battery Samsung 10S12P 21700 3000mAH 3.7V. I built two identical battery backs with different BMS. BMS only manages charge not load
The problem occurs when the battery is still at ~85–90% SOC with both battery packs, which rules out low-voltage sag as an obvious culprit. I’ve bypassed the 300A anti-spark switch (in case of contact heating) with no change. The BMS is wired for charge-only, so it shouldn’t be limiting output current.
Given that the symptom is consistent across two ESCs and multiple control configurations, I’m leaning toward the battery cells as the root cause. These are Samsung 21700 cells purchased from batteryhookup.com at ~$2/cell that was purchased as new.
Has anyone experienced similar issues with these cells under moderate to high load? I’d appreciate any insights or data points.
If anyone has recommendation for reputable battery source within USA fwithout breaking the bank, please let me know. thank you.
