DIY dockstart Board and foil complete

So this is my first dockstart board and foil build. Board is xps core ,carbon construction with standard track box.I also made insert for future steering wheel addon (aka foilscoot).
It is a bit heavier than i expected , 3,5kg.
Foil is all plywood core, wraped in many layers of carbon.
Everything weighs about 10kg.
it is all hand shaped, i just looked at photos and dimensions from other manufacturers.

I have zero foiling experience so i dont really know if the weight is gona be a big factor.
Havent tested it yet , i am waiting for steering wheel to come as i think it will be easier to start learning with it.

I know now i could make everything lighter for sure but i hope it works:)
I know it would be easier to learn with dedicated equipment but i like the challenge to crack it this way:)

I see tough experiences in the future for you😅

Great effort though, love the “let’s do it!” approach

That is quite an endeavor !
Pump foiling is very hard to learn even with “known to work” gear, so diy untested gear is one another level.

Try to get a friend with good pump foil skill to test your setup to confirm it works and give you pointers to stab/wing shimming.

Good luck!

Thanks mate!Ill give it a go on myself first an see how it goes.Dont really have anyone dockstarting but i know few people that wingfoil.I also plan to build myself a wingboard cause i have wing and i know how to use it without foil.If dockstart prooves to be too hard ill try towing behind boat to see how it goes.
Last year i built a small model and it was amazing to see i could pump it with hand:).
I think steering wheel aka scootfoil really adds to easy learning curve. It just ads alot of stability and precision to start.

That’s a great tip from @Bzhwindtalker. Learning to pump is hard, dockstarting harder and it will be even tougher or even impossible on an unknown wing and stab. You can save a lot of time if you can get an early thumbs up/down from someone who can pump already, which most wingfoilers with experience should be able to do.

Let us know how it goes👍

Wow! Amazing what you have done. Your motivation to build this setup from scratch without having any prior experience is remarkable. I sense you are going to build some kickass stuff over time once you get hooked. good stuff

A standard foil setup weights ~3 to 4 kg (wings, fuse, mast) and a dock start board ~2k.
Your build is very heavy which, I’m afraid won’t allow you to dock start.

Every big success was once called impossible—hard work and determination have a way of proving otherwise. Happy new years to all.

Yeah sure, hard work and determination are part of the equation, doing the right things even more.

Well said :call_me_hand:
this is my first build so i learned alot in the process.I know now that i can make every component lighter. The point of this build is just to try to get going and then build new components one by one to improove.
Steering wheel is on its way so we will find out if it can fly preety soon:)
