I have a concern that the growing dependence on AI will replace the more traditional learning curve to “knowledge” ie learn from someone who has experience and then hands on practice to achieve your goal.
Ai is a great tool to augment that process but hopefully it doesn’t become the only factual source.
Have you read about the OpenAI model “escaping” its sandbox and “invading” another companies system “autonomously”? If I see Arnold walking down my street I’m gonna crap myself😉
Looks amazingly well done for a first project.
But your construction is relatively weird.
EPS with two layers of glass + 1 carbon, is very much on the soft side.
This will dent pretty easily.
Considering your complete weight, this seems unneeded.
And your attachment for the foil is strange as well.
If you want to make this solid, you connect it to the top layer of the board.
Right now you have a steel construction, that is embedded only in very soft EPS.
This will probably last a bit, but it is really heavy, while at the same time much weaker than a simple US box connected to the top laminate.
And having the mast so far back while putting the very heavy battery in front will likely be pretty hard to balance.
I told Copilot that I have a Lift 200 Surf V2 front wing and want to design a new wing that’s a step up in drag and speed. Copilot generated several design options and even produced airfoil coordinates (upper surface → leading edge → lower surface). I imported those coordinates into a Fusion 360 app I downloaded separately and got a usable wing profile. I’m still working on the project, so I can’t comment on the final results yet, but along the way Copilot also identified vendors and specific products. It feels like we’re heading toward a very different kind of economy very soon.

The foil mount isn’t attached only to the EPS. The steel structure is bonded into the reinforced laminate, so the load isn’t carried by the foam alone.
As for the balance, I had the same concern before the first ride. Surprisingly, it turned out to be well balanced on the water. The mast position was chosen intentionally after modeling everything in CAD, taking the battery weight into account.
Of course, there is always room for improvements, but for a first DIY build I’m very happy with how it performs.
