DIY Foil Assist

So after well-worn FoilDrive Assist Plus living its best life, trying to build my own version:
I have extra batteries from FoilDrive, and I love the form factor of the NBF-32408, AND I can get FoilDrive Gen 2 motors for around $200 (no “can”, I have those) so I’m just putting together the Remote, Receiver and VESC unit:
1: Maytech Foil Boost VESC 100A V6 Speed Controller with Heat Fin.
1: V6 Bluetooth Module Wireless to Receiver Automatically Switch VESC w/Maytech V3 remote
I am using the Foil Drive Assist Plus small battery (28.8V / 4.2 AH)

Playing with Throttle Curve to get better “Handling” from the motor ( I have my good experience from my official Foil Drive Assist to compare and contrast

Just done this after plus died.

The gen 2 motor is the same as gen 1, both being Saite 6374. Anyone correct me if wrong, you can measure it to check.

Good choice on box, I have a Bud Industries box. Polybox and Camdenboss are also high quality. My first two builds failed because of cheap leaky box.

I’m not sure if you have built this or going to if you are working on throttle curves.

From my experiences, there is nothing special about Foil Drives design.

Let me know if you need some beginners help, or the others here for builders advice.

Thanks! I will bug you !! (Sidelined temporary by life getting in the way ) :joy:

I’m not sure of your experience, so you may be all over it.

If not, I wouldn’t wish on anyone my frustrations when starting to build. This site is more oriented towards actual builders, and beginners can face some challenges.

My third build is running really well after the first two failing, although it is still the most basic box on board design. Plenty of builds like this still have problems, as do some of the experts here.

Let me know when you have a design and I will try to point out all the potential problems so you get them before building instead of on the water, which really sucks.
