Dual 80100 Winch build

Thanks Lars I tried this in my garden today and it worked !!

I put the Vesc in PID speed control mode, and in the motors settings I set reverse erpm to 1500. In reverse throttle it unrolls really slow and if you try to pull faster than the motors unrolls the vesc stop sending current and it starts to freewheel exactly the way I wanted !! Amazing  good thing is when you release the throttle it brakes strong when you pull the cable, perfect to unstuck the cable if it’s stuck in rocks or in vegetation while walking.

Thanks for your help guys, tomorrow I’m trying it with some friends, let’s see :grimacing:

Sounds great. Hopefully I can test out my winch when I get a chance.

Just an update from my side. I managed to get out and test my winch with VESC’s. I set it up in forward only with brake. This worked perfectly in all cases. I had full power on the start. If I let go of the throttle it braked immediately. I was able to walk the line back out fine.

Hey, awesome build,congratulations!

Do you still plan to share your CAD design?

do you have any videos of the device in use?

Also what is the bed surface needed for this print?

Hi guys, little update on the winch :

I was not happy with the belt because i always had to tighten them each session. I found a good pdf online on how to design a belt system and choose the right belt. After a few calculation i realised that my belt are really undersized for the power that is delivered. That would explain why the belts were slipping and why i had to tighten them so much.

So i decided to switch the belts to chains :

I will test this setup this afternoon but i’m really hoping for better performance.

Also I built the Bremote V1 that @vincent sent me (thanks again).
This remote is amazing, such a good design, bravo @ludwig_bre !! It was a pleasure to assemble.

I decided to go crazy and make some parts in brass for better durability :

I did a few modifications and added some magnet on the casing. The goal is that i can control the remote with my 2 hands on the handle and when i fall the remote detach and stays with me.

This remote will be used for other projects too so i like that i can detach it

Let’s try all of those new features this afternoon :sunglasses:

@Jezza can you tell me exactly how you set this up ? I don’t find how to set up forward only with brake.

Right now i can only accelerate and when i release throttle it freewheels until zero. But that’s not great because with the inertia it keeps turning when you fall… I would like it to brake automatically like yours and walk out the line without any braking… i tried everything and i don’t manage to get this setting
