Hello guys, i’m Léo from France, i’m 24.
Thanks for all that have been shared, i couldn’t succeed in this project without this forum.
Here is my first build, from January till September.
144 cm board
VESC Flipsky 200A
Motor Flipsky 6kW
Remote flipsky
36Ah Molicel p42A battery
Foil GONG:
Nice frenchi job! Cnc machining? With vacum bag you do very good job ! Just a too long mast to me for riding lac or river 65 gong mast seen to be better to no hit the bottom… And i see you on the front off the board maybe no enought weight on the nose …big batterie is good for light ampli and long ride but big weight…maybe the rocker on your shape is not efficient for early start on foilling.
.were did you ride ? A other french in the forum we need to do a french meeting .i’am near bordeaux and i see a new one okp from the esk8 world i need to contact him.
Yes ! i have designed the board on shape 3D then sent the file to a company which is called Shaper and based in Seignosse.
I have another 65 cm mast and another motor… maybe i will set up another propulsion unit with this smaller mast. You have right, it can be dangereous if there is not enough depth.
what you mean concerning the rocker ? As it doesn’t touch the water can u tell me how it should has an effect ?
Yes, there is Manu who comes from le Jura, and i come from Mâcon. Will be a pleasure to meet
It’s 3d printed (in 8 times) ! i have used PLA H (high temperature PLA) which has similar properties to ABS.
Then i put fiber glass inside the box to both glue the parts together and waterproof it.
I have put inserts all around.
finally, I have designed the seal and made it cut by a company. It’s a rubber seal
This is not a problem if you fly like this😄 it’s for starting when we jetsurf just before flying …you can have too much drag with this rocker …we have a thread about that on the forum…not a big problem it’s for saving ampli…
If you have an other set of motor unit it’s pefect just to make a plug n play set…yes for this season it.s dead to ride with 6mm wet suit but 2022 we need a ride with other people😉
I see this worker at seignosse how did you paid for this shape?
I’m not a shaper so i have taken an existing board file that i have modified as i wanted. In shaped 3d, you can download existing board file, shortboard, foilboard, longboard…
I have paid around 220 for the shape. But i also bought all the stuff for vaccuming (microperforated paper, tear-off paper, drain, vaccum bag, epoxy, fiberglass…) for around 400 euros if i remember well
I have taken 6 Oz (200g/m2) fiber glass but it’s too thin, let me explain:
The pressure was at around -1bar in the vaccum bag. As the 6 Oz is really thin, it has taken the shape of the buble of polystyrene ! i needed to put a lot of microbaloons after vacuming to make the surface cleaner.
I advise you to use a bigger fiber glass grain, and add on the top of it a really thin one (100g/m2). (a layer of 300g/m2 + a layer of 100g/m2 on the top of it).
It will reduce a lot the post vaccuming work.
So there are 2 amphenol waterproof connectors for battery + and -. I think they are called surlock from amphénol
A cable gland a the right for a magnetic cut circuit cable (i don’t use it finally, i will need to fill the hole during winter)
a relief pressur valve at it’s left
On the middle the charger
Isn’t the esc a bit overkill for this battery and motor combination though?
Please correct me if I am wrong, I’m still learning.
Max Voltage of 12s9p bat (4.2V * 12) = 50.4V. On that 6kW motor (max - cont. should be around 3kW), you’ve got ~120A of (max) load. And… ~60A sustain load?
Great build! Question about the board…what is your foil base plate attached to specifically? Assume some sort of threaded insert … but embedded in just the foam? Or is there some kind of strengthening layer? I have built sup and surf foils, but unsure how the foil mounting is strong enough when there’s a void space above it. (sorry if a dumb question)
back when I was learning, and building the efoil, I have read on the forum that peak current when the foil lift up could go till 150A that why I have chosen the 200A Flipsky VESC.
I don’t have any data recorder so I don’t know what is my peak current when I lift up.
I have a FR prop and a curve wing from gong galaxy. My average consumption is about 30A.
Thank you I have put metal bards in the efoil in the back on all the length that are embedded in the foam. On the other side, in the hatch, on 3 different point (look at the picture above), I made reinforcement with UD fiber glass on all the width of the hatch. Then I have screwed the bars with nuts to this UD fiber glass reinforcement.
Then I have put 4 inserts in the bars to attach the efoil mast + I made cut an EPDM seal which has the form of my mast plate to seal the entrance of the cables.
