Epoxying motor?

I am about to reassemble my 6384 motor I epoxied some time ago… and in the process suspect I’ve ruined it…
The epoxy dried with a bunch of droplets at the bottom of the windings and when I went to sand them off I’ve sanded the copper wire coating in several places. Will this cause an issue?

Also the inside of the can had thick parts which, when I tried to sand off have removed areas of epoxy.

This makes me wonder if epoxying was a complete waste of time in the first place.

Is it worth reassembling or is the motor stuffed for good?

Also anyone know what this little ring is and where it goes?

According to my notes it goes ahead of/inside before the 2 smaller bearings. So assume it goes into this - but it doesn’t seat in so well:

Will most definitely be buying a pre-waterproofed one next time.

Have you tried if it turns when you put it back together? If it doesn‘t touch the stator, it‘s OK. Otherwise you can use a lathe to remove excess epox from the bell. For the stator use a file at the bottom, but be careful not to file into the windings.
