I thought I’d share a little project I recently finished that might be useful to anyone who wants to SUP foil with the Flipsky VX5 remote.
I wanted a way to mount the VX5 remote directly to my SUP paddle so I could comfortably use my foil assist while SUP foiling in the surf. Holding the remote in one hand while paddling wasn’t ideal, so I designed a simple mount for a 29 mm paddle shaft.
A thank you to Flipsky, who were kind enough to provide me with the original STEP file for the VX5 remote. Having the CAD model made it much easier to design a mount that fits properly.
I’ve uploaded the mount to Printables with:
- The printable STL file.
- The original STEP file from Flipsky (as a reference for anyone wanting to design their own accessories).
- An STL version of the remote model as well, since some CAD programs can be slow to work with the STEP file.
The mount attaches to the paddle using duct tape and is designed for carbon Starboard paddle. I know simple but works.
As an aside has anyone had issues with their VX5? Water ingress, not turning on, etc?
