Foid Drive Gen 1 Battery issue

Hi All,
I am getting tired of my Gen 1 Battery being in the wrong place. I’m using large foils to practise pumping and the offset battery really stuffs things up. I may need a stiffer mast for the large foils as an Axis 1030 Spitfire works fine. Try the Art 1401 and I’m all over the place.

So is it worth digging a hole to put the battery on the center line ? My board is 3.5" thick and 45 litres so it will fit. It’s just a lot of work.

Could buy a Gen 2 but then I’ve invested heaps in the Gen 1. Also the AMPJet looks much better !

All Advice welcome.
Cheers Stu

A few people have done this, although they are often seen in sellers groups on Facebook, so could be difficult to find.

Maybe some of the board builders here could give advice, I imagine reinforcing the board is an issue.

You could definitely put it in the board. Just run a stringer either side for extra strength.
The Gen2 weight distribution is different and changes the pump compared to when its not there.

Ok, That sound’s doable but the cable is the issue I am stuck with. It will still need to run over the deck and rails. I think I’ll have a go of the Gen 2 and test out the pumping / weight distribution. I have a winging mate that bought one recently (Sydney). I’ve also picked up and old surf rescue board (8’) from the side of the road so I may convert it as a test project. They are also super light because they use a very large foam sphere (lots of air gaps). But, once again, I’ll need to reinforce everything so weight may become and issue. Would make a good FD downwind board. Not so great for pumping maybe.
