So I need a new motor for a FD gen2. Can I just buy one that fits, connect a connector and be good to go?
What part of the old motor is broken?
I would imagine most motors of a similar size will work. Foil drive isnt updating firmware based on motor resistance even though they are using a vesc.
The metal rod inside the hub can is all scratched up. The waterproofing resin around the wires is all chewed up.
They are manufactured by saite. Im not too sure if rhey will give you close to FD style unit or one of their more generic uwaterproofed units. But if you contact them on alibaba or something they should be able to tell you.

Main shaft is just 10mm stainless steel rod. If you sand the scratches off it’s fine, the bearings shouldn’t turn on it anyway.
As far as the windings, just lightly sand them smooth and maybe spray with epoxy paint. Or leave it and simply spray the pulled apart motor with Corrosion X after every session.
Those Saite motors are pretty bulletproof, main thing is to maintain the bearings and replace with quality stainless steel.
