Have I fried my vesc?

Hello, I’m new here and to e-foiling and I’m building my first board now copying Fillemupps rifle case build
I’m using flipsky 65161 120kv motor and flipsky 75200 esc

I already once had everything working and tested it but there were problems with waterprooffing and power

I used diffirent battery for that run but I now have bigger battery for it than my old battery pack that was 36v and now my new one is 60v so it should help with power

The problems is that after my last run everything worked but after I changed my battery it won’t work
I tried to change settings in vesc to match my new battery and to double check everything but when I’m in the focc settings trying to measure my motor it says: “Could not measure the motor resistance and inductance.” it makes some noises when trying to measure it but after it always says that same thing

Now because before it worked and I successfully did these settings and now it won’t work I think I may have damaged my vesc in someway.

I used Ludwig Bres video to setup everything https://youtu.be/QaVPISP8BF4?si=VZseRMjWh6jNmRbA

Any ideas if that is my case and I need new vesc or is there anything I can do?

Sounds more like a connection problem than a vesc problem to me but there are some users that got issues when changing voltage. Seems motor detection can be affected by it and the 75200 VESC reportedly also has noisy measurements for the motor control (which would be bad for this)

Some basic things to try:

  • Connect the old battery. Does it work again?
  • try to set parameters via the connection wizard instead of the way Ludwig does it in the video.
  • Disconnect motor from esc. Check motor turning, is it bogged down, increasing torque with rpm when turned by hand, ? (=Motor is shorted)
  • Connect motor to esc, turn again by hand. Increasing resistance when turned? (=esc is shorted)
  • Check all motor connections. Any possibility of poor contact?
  • check motor wires at enter and exit through motor endcap, mast, box etc. Any signs of damage?

Some things are discussed here that might be able to help if above doesn’t:

Good luck!
