Hello i have built two super efficient 100l and 80l boards diy efoils which im waiting for warmer weather in the UK
I have not tested either but at 80ky wieght Im already thinking I need to overvolt my flipsky 65111 motor to 20s 72v-84v? its rated at maxium 12s 44volt! what do you think of the chances of this motor not burning out? will it give me the extra push to get up on foil ? has any body success with flipsky 65111 motor on 12S battery?
This is spec from Flipsky so not sure why you say 12S is max?
Having said that not many people have the need nor want to run the increased safety risk of a higher V pack.
Have you already purchased this model? I think there are better choices. It only has 12awg phase wires and they exit the motor in a strange place for efoil. Power wise it might be ok but finding a good propeller might be a challenge since its 160kv.
thanks for response, thinking about it again all my parts are interchangeable and perhaps i will test on 12s battery and reprogram for more power if needed? waiting for warmer weather in the UK, regards robin
The motor will not burn due to high voltage, the limit is the currwnt rating. I think the voltage rating is to limit max rpm. 20S is more of a problem due to the high voltage which is a safety issue in water.
Also 160KV is on the higer end, you probably need a smaller propeller.
There are several threads on 65111 motor found by using the search feature. It would also help to get meaningful feedback if you provided some more detail on your build and your use case.
I bought it because it was cheap (because no one else was buying it?) so it now fixed to a spare mast ready to test, but your right if another motor comes available at the right price i will purchase and install that, hopefully before the summer?
i have standard 7 1/4 propeller fitted but i my workshop i have several nylon propellers i dont mind cutting down, i may try one of them as they were also cheap
7 1/4 is definitely too big, even for a 65161 with more torque.
I cut the 7.24in prop down to 140mm and it worked on the 65161 I use. But I much prefer the fliteprop.
Run at 14s
Flipsky make a prop for this motor, buy that prop.
Propeller aside, as i will enjoy the process of modifying and testing my propellers, has anyone seen are heard of anyone having a success with a 65111 motor, or am i just setting myself up for a would of failure?
I have wings and kites i may just use this motor as a foil assist, I’m the onlÿ person in the whole of Sussex uk with a efoil so my local river (ouse) is all mine to use as like no restrictions!
Do a search for 65111 and then do one on 65161. There are reasons lots of people chose the 65161 motor.
Yours may work just fine. If you want to be sure….
