How do you actually log data?

I have two MakerX G300 VESCs.

I can connect with the VESC tool and can upload and download parameters, but I can’t see real time data. I am connecting with a USBC cable to a laptop running the latest version of the VESC tool. The VESCs are a year old. When I power them up and run them, nothing appears on the chart.

I can’t see on any of teh VESC tool manuals how you actually log and save real time data.

There is a “real time data” under the “Analysis” heading, but how do you actually start, stop and save the data for later analysis?

You could use something like this?

Brilliant! Thank you!!!

So, big revelation and move forward. The VESC motor wizard does not determine all parameters. You need to go into the FOC analysis and run two more tests.

Now, the motors are not stuttering and the VESCs are not freaking out!

If you write the parameters after using the motor setup wizzard, this should not be necessary, the motor tests are just an alternative method to determine the motor parameters. Arow down M in the bar to the right, saves the motor patameters. If you reconnect the vesc to vesc tool, use arrow up M to load the motor params from vesc into vesc tool.

Running the motor wizard did not set these parameters. It maybe a Maker X thing, but they highlight it on their website;

Ah, OK, I see, it is the sencond VESC connected over CAN that does not get those params.

No, I connect to each separately. For some reason, the G300s are not picking up all teh parameters

Maybe you have already tried this but if not try this;
On the right side of the screen, just under M or A + arrow down (for downloads to the VESC) there is a button called RT. You need to make sure that one is activated to see data.
