Hi, Your Pod looks great! Do you think it is less loud? My one, without any damping is loud.
Would you share your pod?
Thank you very much!
Mat
Hi Mat,
When you say loud, are you meaning your pod is vibrating/resonating against your mast? Or is it your strap? Its something i am concerned might be an issue for me too. But luckily the inner part for my pod is silicone should dampen vibration a little. Will know more after tomorrow. Happy to share the files after this weekend. Cheers,
Bruce
Hi Bruce,
Yes, the vibrating/resonating sound is what I mean. In my opinion it “feels” loud and disturbing. I am looking forward to your results. Thanky for the support.
Mat
The vibration/ noise is something I didn’t like with any of the foil assist products. The mast and the hollow board above the water is the perfect combination - if you were going to design a flying speaker this is how you would do it!
Hi Mat,
I have used this a few times now and get no vibration or noise at all. Super smooth. This may be due the dampening i am getting with the silicone inner part i molded.
As far as drag goes, im not sure its any better than a normal pod but its certainly lighter and easier to install ![]()

Hi Bruce,
Thank you very much for your reply! That sounds very good. Thanky for the files!
One question: How do you fix the strap on the side without the opening? Do you glue it in?
Thank you!
Thanks for sharing !

Hi,
Im.confused about how the silicone mould is created against the mast. How did you createbthe flexible sleeve using the solid part ?..looks a brilliant version of the Nano…really nice work.

I’m also confused about the silicone part. Do you have a 3d printed mould for the silicone part? Many thanks.
Hi,
Thanks. Yeah sorry i probably didn’t explain that very well.
I 3D scanned my mast, Then took a cross section of the mast where i want to have the pod situated and used this to create a mold tool for the silicone part. The mould tool is just 3D printed and then green part is injection molded using dental silicone. See below:
Yep i did. See below.
I also am worried a solid version of this part wont work very well because the mould is a single cross section extrude, where as the actual mast is tapered. The silicone accounts for this nicely and just deforms but a solid print may not work.
The alloy version would be easy.

Awesome work and thanks for sharing. What is your strap?
I see…that makes perfect sense now. However, mould.making iwth CAD is betond ny abilities…lol

I didn’t realise it was a commercial product, worth a look:

Looking good. Did you print the strap in TPU as well?
Yes, A93 and A95 work well.
Looks great! TPU printing came out really nice. I’m really interested to know if the TPU printed strap stretches over time and looses elastic recovery.
For anyone wanting to know where the strap i used comes from:
$8 at our local hardware store. Super strong.
Just removed the buckle from the end by pulling the strap out from its slot. The overmoulded end of the strap is more than strong enough to stay captive in the back of the pod.
Are you using the Foildrive motor or another brand of motor for this Pod?
