Laminate cavities in a board

Anyone got best practices to laminate large box sized cavities in foam without too many extra steps?

Last time I first hand laminated the interior.
Was not great and also takes too long.

Current idea is to fill it out with dry chickpeas or something, like when baking a pie and then do regular vacuum.

But if anyone has a good workflow, I would love a better idea.

Are you talking about laminating the battery cavity in a board?
The method all the manufacturers use is to use a reverse mold. That way the finish of the box perfect and doesn’t require post touch up…

It’s for a one off, so mold is probably too much trouble.

See if this concept works for you. A separate pod made of prepreg carbon to insert in the board, where the battery case is inserted.

Yeah the ceapest is to just vac bag down. An alternatice to get a good finish on the base is to vac back a piece of polycarbonate down. I did this on one board and then you get a nice smooth base. I didn’t care about the sides being rough.

Wish I could justify doing it that way.

Reality is, its just another idea thats likely not going to work half as good as I think it would.

So for now I just need a way to get the fibres to the wall without too many extra steps. Would love to do just a two step procedure, Top + Bottom, without any intermediate steps for the cavity.

I build a box with several pieces
, Ilaminated each piece with poor man’s vacuum and glued them together later.
Then put them inside my board
