Foiling Moose made a very simple clever housing for the Maytech receiver. Involves removing all connectors and the relay from the PCB then potting in an open ended printed box, result is slim and robust and waterproof. I’ve shown new V how I used to do it. Solder sucker from aliexpress makes it a pleasure to remove the relay and connector strip. Printed in translucent material you can still see the led on the PCB. Two ways to bring out the PWM connection, either solder the just removed terminal back onto the board lying flat or connect flying leads. The red single cable is the B+ to enable the handset to display the main battery level. Grey wire is antenna.

Hey, thanks for sharing. I actually need to do something similar because I need the space in the box. Can really them from the pictures but do you remove the white thing next to the relay? On my PCB I can’t see the pins on the other side of it, thanks
Yep, remove that too. I clip it with side cutters on each side to cut through the plastic. It’s a bit messy !

If you order a few from Maytech you can get them to supply without any pins or relays…. Makes it even easier ;). I usually have to wait until they’re doing a run of them before they’ll sell me PCBs without the pins on but if everyone starts asking for units without pins maybe they’ll make it a stocked option.
And if you want to maximise space in the ends of the standard box most people use box you can get these little rx units under 5mm thick. It’s just the small metal box on the rx pcb that determines that thickness. I haven’t managed any thinner or needed to.
