MIKEs inflatable FANATIC build

Would you detail the amount of work to finalize this kit to have a working ESC ? What needs to be done exactly ? What is the difference between this assembled kit and the assembled 270GBP product ?

you’d need the following (not sure on costs as I haven’t calculated)

  • solder stencil
  • components for power section
  • heatsink

then all you need to do is put the solder stencil on, place the components and flow the board. Then the logic section plugs right in. I would imagine that it would come to less than complete unit though…

Hello Mike! Very nice build.
Is there a chance to share files for 3D print of box (12 individual parts)?

Hi Rocky,

I can share the STLs - some month ago I made a new box with mostly solid plates of PVC because the 3D printed box has cracks and is strongly warped - a general problem with large parts.

Mike

I’d be very interested to see this box. What does it weigh?

Thanks Mike!
Yes, please share STLs.
Can you make some discriptions and pictures of new procedure of making box with solid plates of PVC?
The box is the missing part for me to start building efoil

Hey Mike! How did you do the connection between the gearbox and the motorshaft?
I can get my hands on one of those gearboxes through work, but I havent figured out the connection between the motor and the gearbox. Any pictures would be much appreciated!

The motor shaft is turned down with a lathe and the sun gear is laser-welded:

Please note that the plain bearings of the planetary gear must be changed to needle bearings otherwise the bearings will seize up - I had this two times after short time.

To use this box you need a inflatable board with a opening the fits to the box - what board do you have?

Very very nice laser weld :+1:

Thank you :innocent: but I didn’t do that on my own - I ask a dental technology laboratory and they love to do it because I show them what it will be :surfing_man:

I was looking to do that on my reisanauer gearbox but the glued pignon holded up

I do not have the board yet, since I want first get together all pieces of a puzzle and than order all material. I am still looking for a producer who can make cheap inflatable board like this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33008415864.html?spm=a2g0o.detail.1000060.1.1096219fVTSr2i&gps-id=pcDetailBottomMoreThisSeller&scm=1007.13339.146401.0&scm_id=1007.13339.146401.0&scm-url=1007.13339.146401.0&pvid=402049af-e60c-4318-8425-340f97fdab4f&_t=gps-id:pcDetailBottomMoreThisSeller,scm-url:1007.13339.146401.0,pvid:402049af-e60c-4318-8425-340f97fdab4f,tpp_buckets:668%230%23131923%230_668%23808%235965%23496_668%23888%233325%237_668%232846%238114%23787_668%232717%237563%23530_

I have one of those they are cheap, 200$ plus shipping plus tax results in more like 350. When I got mine a year ago it was the only one available but there are better options now, lighter and with a more rectangular opening. Check the builds from @jetboardscologne and @nice2you.

Does anibody know how much Mala sell the inflatable board complete with box ? What is this box made of ?

I got pricing a while back as I was interested in them and the pricing was as follows:

White board: 520 Euro
Black board (carbon material): 800 Euro
Carbon housing: 700 Euro

I have subsequently designed my own inflatable which I may bring onto the market if I like the prototypes and feel it is worthwhile.

What thickness did you use on the pvc box? Why type of pvc?

PVC -U / top plate is 8mm / bottom plate is 10mm / side plates are 10mm / round parts 3d printed

All parts are screwed and glued together

Weight is 9,5kg with 10mm alu plate for cooling esc and mounting foil plate
