More powerful Foil Drive for larger rider and smaller foil?

So I need more power than the foil drive can deliver, what are my options?

This is for catching waves on smaller foils, I don’t necessarily need to be able to get up on foil but at least be able to stay with the wave speed while standing.

I’m assuming diy and unsure what motor/battery/esc/prop combo will work…and ideally similar weight to FD of around 9lbs or less.

Love your YouTube, the video of Johnny Supping with commentary is awesome.

The Manta take off is a bit more powerful than the Foildrive, but that could change with a Foildrive software update that was talked about.

All assists, diy and commercial use essentially the same components and cells. There’s no secret sauce that will make them significantly lighter or faster - they all squeeze everything they can out of the current tech batteries, speed controller and motors.

If you want to whip in with speed the best option is a Boogie. Lots of DIY guides here, or if you want turn key with all the bells and whistles I make the inflatable zerotow Boogie. I just shipped one to San Fran last week so you can might see it in action soon.

I’m 95kg/210lb and ride a HA680 foil and a 34L board, and get 2 hours in the waves.

If you are on the new gen 2 setup foil drive has the watts limited. They are suppose to turn it up via an app update soon. The setup can put out a lot more power.

I would love to see the boogie in action, our shore break can be so gnarly I wonder where they will go with it?

That makes sense, it will go slow for a long time, so might as well have an option to go fast for a short time…

I’ll find out where and let you know.

If you can prone/ duck dive and get out the back then the boogie will make it easily. We just added a new feature so once the Boogie is out the back you can put it in position hold while make your way to it. Other option is to go to a sheltered part of the beach and just commute up the coast to where the waves are.
