Most salt resilient Flipsky motor

What Flipsky would you say hold up best in salt water? Do you need to fill half with corrosionX and ceramic bearings? Thinking of 7070 but outrunner maybe have more space for salt to come in?

Would like 3-4kw cont to plane a dinghy

Better take an inrunner, if you use it in saltwater all the time. 70165 seems suitable for a dinghy. Best would be to fill it with thin mineral oil.

I agree, the 70165 is definitely the right choice. Ive had one from last year and it was already filled from the factory with oil, but id double check and change the front and rear bearing while you are at it (since the stokc bearings are not stainless steel).

Is it a Flipsky one ? I just bought one. I will ask Flipsky if it’s the case.

You’ll definitely need a lot more than a 7070 to plane a dinghy. I would estimate closer to 6kw continuous, though that could be a bit off. As others have said, the 70165 would probably be the absolute minimum, and even that’s only rated for 4.4kw continuous. You might want to look at the 85165 (8.2kw continuous) or 90165 (8.8kw continuous).

I have the 85165 and am going to put it on a canoe with the same goal as you; I think it’ll work, but I’m not 100% sure. If you can wait a month or two I might have some real-world testing to share :joy:
