New here and been doing some sleuthing on appropriate motor controller wires for my current build:
Foil drive gen1 motor
Flipsky 75200
12s4p battery (I’m a big dude)
Flipsky vx3 controller
Do you all use individual phase wires from the motor to the control box, or a bundled polyurethane insulated 10/3 type wire? Like lapp olflex etc.
Any suggestions on a brand that can be easily sourced in the US? I’m thinking at a minimum the wires need to be flexible, 10 gage and of course resilient to abrasion and water.
Thanks for any advice. The motor wires seem to be the most under detailed aspect of folks builds. Maybe I am overthinking it?
I burned through a bundled olflex type with the cable gland too tight, so that is the only thing to watch out for, this was on a well-used second hand setup, from new and specced appropriately I’m sure it will be fine.
If you plan on e-foiling more than assisting, or tow boogie, then individual glands per motor wire is sensible
If you plan on foil assist only, 12awg/3 wire is fine too. 10awg is good too but more drag behind the mast and more weight. I use this one from Amazon:
