Motor position for wave riding

I found a picture of a motor mounted pretty much in the middle of the mast and was wondering if its the better way instead of a folding prop.

If the motor is completely out of the water after you push yourself into the wave with motor power, wave riding should be perfect without losing speed cause of the engine drag, right? Or is it to hard to control the height?

Wow that open prop must be super close to you legs when starting out!

Looks like a very over-built human egg beater. Must have high trust in your throttle when climbing on.

somehow contradics the use case of the 700€ folding prop having it clear of water…

But perhaps as an entry-point into efoiling for surfing puritans…
