Greetings from WA state!
Long time reader first time poster! Built a simple bolt on system (basically a big Foil Drive Gen 1) with the following:
Flipsky 75200
Flipsky 65151
VX3 controller
Flite Prop
12s Batteries
Waterproof box
3d printed mast connection
I had it working for the first three sessions, plenty of power, responsive, super fun! midway through the third session, for no obvious reason the motor failed to start. After testing I realized it only failed to start in a certain position, but now back on the water the motor was super rough above 40% throttle. I have checked everything i can think of, including mutliple adjustments in VESC tool (observer, saturation, etc), but so far can only make things worse not better. the motor feels fine when manually turned, and looked fine when I opened it up.
At this point i think i need to take apart and redo any wiring connections between the ESC and Motor in case one of those got damaged?
Any advice? does that seem in the right direction? or am i wasting my time?
By my (limited) understanding the motor is cogging because of a mismatch between where the ESC thinks the motor stators are and where they actually are. not sure why it wont start in a certain position though… Thanks!
