New Direct Drive Inrunner 65150

Do you get 33A on motor phases or on battery ?
If on battery side : 33a with a 14s and a 120kv at 2700rpm can give more than 90A on the motor …

Use torque mode instead of speed and you’ll get up. for some reason I never got speed mode to deliver full power. Torque mode gave me power like my VESC and other ESC’s would. Worth a try!

I see. Yes. I’m having the same problem. But, did you test the ESC with the motor with the new firmware?

Yes. Doesn’t run I hope for a solution

I have messaged them. Standby for update.

I can’t get torque mode to kick the motor over. Pretty strange! I’ll give freefly A shout though.
The swordfish 300a seems to do well though so now I need to water test it.

Good news!!!
The swordfish 300A worked with both props.
Solas 6" pitch 140mm got a max speed of 29kph.
Jezza’s HP prop 140mm got a max speed of 33kph.
I’ll pull the logs a bit later and add them in.

I am thinking that the 140kv option might be the best option if you like a little bit more speed. Especially if you want to run at 12s.

Hey guys. I got a question for you.

@V_S recommended a Chinese amp meter. But, they are not waterproof, and I don’t plan to deck mount anything. Do any of these have a history function? Would it be useful to have as recorded data after my ride? One with Bluetooth would be great.

I’m still waiting for my V2 maytech remote. Not sure what battery indication (voltage, state of charge, amp draw) I will have with my Flier 400 amp ESC (assuming Flier can get the issue resolved🤞). I suspect I’ll only have pack voltage based battery percentage on the remote? Do you know if I’ll have any other data with the maytech remote? Like amp draw?

I am not planning to run a BMS. But I hear some smart BMS can be used just for Bluetooth telemetry. But, I have no first hand experience with them.

Thx.

nice! I will test the 195kv maytech soon, I 'm exciting to know if this motor can works with avery small prop, can you show us a video amd hear the prop sound when its working?

this is great. I have the 300A maytech so it should be good to go too.
Can’t wait to try it in the water

There are quite a lot of different options for monitoring, but to be honest I prefer to keep it as simple as possible. My preference would be to either have the volts or percentage displayed on the remote. More than that is not really needed.
I use a BMS just for charging to keep the battery as simple as possible. If I were developing foils or systems maybe then I’d put more effort into monitoring…

I have a prop (110mm cleaver prop) that would suit the 195Kv motor pretty well if it can deliver on the specs they claim it to have. Maybe I can convince one of the companies to send me a test unit and I’ll run some proper tests on it.
Are you wanting the prop in the water or just in the air? Neither of my props were cavitating if that’s what you are wanting to see.

Do you know what the maytech remote will display with the flier ECU? Hoping voltage and battery percentage at least.

I plan to charge and balance my batteries externally with hobby charger.

195kv and a prop between 80-115 mm :sunglasses:
I would like to see and hear the sound in the water and compare with mine.
Are you playing with the maytech remote?
video like this with your phone

you can change torque mode to ramp start like it is in speed mode, then it should start.

or you could’ve set the regen currents to 0 which causes an error which prevents the motor spinning up?

So some super interesting data to add in from the Swordfish 300A!!!

Solas 6" pitch prop (cut to 145mm):
Max speed: 29kph
Max RPM: 4244
Max Current: 86A
Full Throttle Current (I pretty much just rode like this the whole way): 82A - 86A

Jezza’s high pitch prop (140mm):
Max speed: 33kph
Max RPM: 3598
Max Current: 124A (most likely during take-off)
Max Throttle current: 118A

Either my geared unit (which I know is faster with the HP prop) or the ARC200 seems to be a lot more efficient than this exact setup.
Jake might have given me a big clue as to why I can’t get the motor to start in Torque mode. Once I can I can then re-test with both props. I should also have the FR test props soon too so can get more figures with them.

Yes! I got it to work! With jitter start you need a reverse RPM otherwise it actually can’t jitter back and forth. Will be interesting to see the differences in speed and current now…

Hi,

the solas prop was one of the worst commercial propeller we tested in term of efficiency (even reduced to 140mm), I hope you will have better results with FR propeller.

I did some testing with the FR propeller and our motor unit here they are:

“Max Throttle current: 118A”

If you are talking about battery current this is a lot, your propeller might have a too high pitch for the motor and the stator saturates and the efficiency is dramatically lowered.

At 30KM/H our battery amp might be around 40A, the water was very choppy and i was riding beetween jestkis…

Awesome! You will have a huge improvement, not sure why speed mode doesn’t deliver full power!

I assume it’s battery current…but the swordfish doesn’t have any other current readings.
Yeah the prop may saturate this motor. On my geared unit I get 36kph at 70-80A with the same prop.
Now that I have the arc200 working I’ll get better results I’m sure!
