Found these in my search for suitable bearing replacements in prep for my build. I’m planning on swapping the ceramics out the waterproof flipsky 6384 right away since a lot of you guys have had failures with them and the china SS replacments.
Looks like the MTB industry might have already solved this issue of loads applied to these bearings in their suspension pivots.
I don’t have the motor or my set up built yet but maybe one of you guys needs new bearings and want to ginnie pig these for the greater good.
They have these in both sizes needed 3 total
2x- s6800
1x- s6900
On a side note has anyone had trouble with the potting making it difficult to swap the bearings out?
“these bearings are for low loads & speeds only & cannot be left immersed in water or they’ll corrode”
when asked if they recommend any
No, sorry – 316 grade is semi-precision at best & only intended for use in simple applications (like food conveyor rollers for example). If you want higher performance you could consider ceramic bearings instead.
I just change them after 500km. As we use the motor with a propeller, best would be to use an angular contact bearing because of the axial load from the prop. The only one I found was not stainless and cost 50€. We are abusing that motor anyways, therefore it needs a bit of tlc any now and then.
