Propeller 3d resin printing

Anyone here tried a resin printer for a propeller? I am using an FDM and I can get decent results but still need to sand and paint to get a perfect finish. In tests I have the layer lines even from 0.1mm hurt performance.

Seems a resin printer with the right structural resin could be a win.

Or just go alu print from craft cloud/pcbway. Less than 20€ per blade at craftcloud… unless you already have the printer, that would make the most sense?

Thankyou. Problem for me is those services are too slow turnaround and for making iterations gets expensive too.

I didnt think fdm would hold up very well but in my fixed blade design so far nothing broke! Mind you it took me a while to gte the printer parameters and slicing so its good enough.

If you just want clean finish, try ABS with acetone fumes.
Quick and easy almost without manual effort.

Thanks

Also here is a solvent for pla ethyl acetate which I have not tried yet. Still I think the finish needs to be more accurate for optimal performance.

I have resin printed a few in the past. They come out really nice but you have to find the right resin. Most tough or strong resins are slightly flexible to make the part more durable. This flexibility makes the blades deform under load and vibrate.

I did print a few with a cheap abs like resin that lasted for a while. The problem was they would fail inconsistently. One might last 3 hours and another might last 50 hours.

Thanks for the feedback. I ordered the anycubic mon 4 and the abs-like v2 water wash.

Which resin were you using?

Sirayatech ABS like resin. There are def much stronger resins but they have more flex to them.

I ordered the syratech blu tough. Hopefully its better
